There is another interested debate going on in the BVI. Where The government of the British Virgin Islands has refused permission for a planned performance by Jamaican reggae singer Tony Matterhorn.

Matterhorn is the originator of the popular and controversial Dutty Wine dance.

BVI Chief Minister Dr Orlando Smith, a surgeon, cited health and safety concerns over the Dutty Wine dance, as well as “incomplete documentation” submitted by the show’s organisers.

The South East Reunion opens tomorrow evening with a motorcade from Delices going to Grand Fond when the opening ceremony will take place and members of the South East Reunion 2006 Committee are pretty confident that their natural features and their sites will contribute to the quality and significance of the get-together, which is programmed for 15 to 31 December, 2006.South East Reunion Committee Claudine Roberts says.

“The objective of the reunion is to bring all the sons and daughters of these villages together and is expected to give people in the Diaspora the opportunity to visit their homeland and familiarise their foreign born relatives with Dominica … since Christmas is a time when loved ones unite in the spirit of good cheer what would be a better time to hold this activity”.

Representatives from each of the South East villages announced the activities planned to take place in their particular areas and made known the sites that will be visited during the reunion.The opening and closing ceremonies, tree lighting and reunion ecumenical service are just some of the events to take place during the 15-day celebration. A hearty welcome to all returning South East Residents and thanks for being apart of SE Reunion 2006.
