Did you know that there was a Dominica – Haiti Friendship Association in Dominica? I didn’t! Well this same “Friendship Association†is taking a proposal to Govt. which aims to regularize the status of 300+ Haitians who live here, to give them residence status. If this proposal is approved by Govt – after six months we will have over 1000+ more coming into Dominica. Remember this, you read it first on DW. 😀
Question of the Day:Should the Govt go ahead and give these 300+ Haitians residence status? Share your opinion in the comments

Ok Candid Anonymous…. 😈
The thing is Chris, everyone wants to make comments and sugestions that affect the lives of others and do not want to stand behind it making the public know who they are. its time that we stand behind our comments and not be hiding behind anonymity.
Now The HATIANS.
I personally dont have a problem with the Hatians coming to and making dominica their home as well as dominica embracing the Hatians.
Our Story on this earth has always been the movement of peoples from one geographic location to another. This movemnt for the most part is always been in search of a better way of life for the ones moving and their generations to come. So if Dominica is that better way of life that the Hatians or any other nationality for that matter seeks, then we should welcome them. We are in desperate need of a population boost on this island, as most Dominicans themselves flee Dominica in search of a better way of life throughout all parts of this globe. I think if a new colony was to start in space you would see some Domincans there.LOL.
Once the Hatians meet the criteria that is required to acquire such status they should recieve it.
I am aware that ther are certain elements of criminal activity that is associated with the hatians but this criminal element is present even in the case of ecomonic citezens who purchase their Citizenship. that does not make the entire programe negative. Most Hatians contirbute positively to the dominican economy and work hard to raise money for the family back home and to sustian themselves while on island.
Considering how many Dominicans live abroad for financial reasons it would seem hypocritical to deny Haitians the opportunity to do that same. Besides, as the Americans ought to have learned by now, just because you brand people as illegal aliens doesn’t mean they won’t still come — all that does is create a permanent underclass.
I agree wholeheartedly with Mr.Foerster. We’re flocking to the States and talking up a storm about how hard it is to get a green card but we can’t help others get situated in Dominica?
