Oh Creole in the Park, my only compliant is that you were too short – we found ourselves wishing for another day of festivities the moment the headliners completed their final notes. Though it may have ended too soon for my liking – Creole in the Park did end with a wonderful bang of fireworks display.
The finale was kicked-off with performances by Breezees Pan Symphony, Waitukubuli Dance Company, Boozai band out of New Jersey, and Caribbean Vibes There was a short break from the action for the Maggi Cooking Challenge, where different restaurants from around Roseau presented their Creole dishes to the Maggi judges. The challenge was won by BIG MAMA’S Snackette.
Later, on the side stage was the long anticipate performance by the MFR Band, who did not disappoint their fans who came out. Following MFR performance, the attention to the crowd was reverted back to the main stage, where the Red Hot Flames brought down the crowd with tracks like De Harder Deh Come and Quad Ride. Finally, it was the Swinging Stars – Dominica’s #1 Party band who brought down the curtains on the 2008 Cable and Wireless Creole in the Park with an electrifying performance.
As I concluded our coverage of Creole in the Park 2008, I can honestly say that I enjoyed myself and it was so incredible to see many of my long-time friends back home. To all my fellow Dominicans in the diaspora, who were unable to make it back home – I hope our coverage of Creole in the Park 2008 helped in anyway. With that said, I encourage you to continue visiting Dominica-Weekly.com for more Reunion Independence Celebration coverage.
I was supposed to be there..long story..sigh
We’re moving to Dominica in December to live in our retirement. This is the last such celebration we’ll miss.
