As Chalkdust (past calypsoian) say:
“the beauty of Calypso in the early days was to show the boss-man that you could analyse and laugh at his way of life and behavior white he danced away, not knowing that he was the topic of your commentary. This was core to the self confidence of Caribbean people who had often neglected (or been denied) their education, but could show that not all intellect was book learnt.”
We are not about Jay-z, Ti Lil Wayne and Beyonce through we adore and respect them as artists. We are about Dice, Hunter, Daddy Chest and Tarina. Let keep it real and our culture by being ourselves, we’re much more powerful than a collection of mimic men and women.

the only way that calypso gonna compete with hip hop for the minds of the youth in Dominica is to become fresh, real fresh and relevant in this cyber age. the past is gone. the future is now. a hardcore future even. it is a new time the art form gotta evolve. peace.

I understood and respect your point-of-view, that the art is evolving…… I just believe that we shouldn’t forget our past …… because its apart of us and who we’re as a island caribbean people…..
