Dominica Island Blog: Sharing Every Dominican Moment with the World

Ramblings From The Nature Paradise of Dominica

To be honest I had no idea Dominica had a yacht club, or nevertheless competing in some Regatta. Thanks you my newly found fellow blogger Jennifer Miller at Living Dominica I found out that Dominica Yacht Club recently competed in the Bequia Regatta.

I’m proud of the DYC team (Anthony Gunn, Hubert J. Winston, Valence Victor and Allan Daisley) to be the first team to promote Dominica as a sailing destination in such a very popular regatta.

The DYC team was mostly a training effort and did not sail with spinnakers, but started and finished all races, ending as high as 5th and placed 6th overall. To me it doesn’t really matter what place the DYC comes out, I’m just happy to see a Dominica flag flying together with all the other regional competitors.

Also the Bajan Reporter blog is reporting that the DYC has also entered the BMW J24 Invitational Regatta in St Lucia in May, and are looking at plans to continue racing the Dominica flag around the region over the years.
