Ramblings From The Nature Paradise of Dominica

Update:Due to further construction added. Some more time is needed for the opening of the resort. now they are looking to open the doors about mid year, June or July 08.

The Rosalie Bay Resort is one of the many new resorts spoke about by the Tourism Minister Yvor Nassief in the recent press conference on Dominica’s Tourism Industry. I was fortunate have to visited the Resort building site a few months ago. And through the resort a few months from completion, it’s promising to be one of the top resorts in Dominica.

Rosalie Bay Resort is an ego/adventure Traveler dream resort.Traveler gets to discover Dominica at its most natural state. The Resort was constructed in such away to complement its natural surrounding. All the Electrical wiring and Plumbing was installed underground to preserve it natural ambiance.

Upon completion the resort will consist of thirty Rooms. Most of which are cabins similar to a Four Seasons Hotel standard room. There will also be a Reception/lobby area, Restaurant, Swimming Pool and a state of the art conference room if my memory serves me correctly.

All of the Suite cabins have huge verandas, ideal for dinner out with family and friends.

As the resort is located on the Atlantic Ocean side of the island, the sea bathing conditions are not suitable for visitors to bath in. But there will be opportunities when visitors will see endangered leatherback sea turtles on the pristine beaches to lay their precious cargo of eggs. In fact the leatherback sea turtles visited the shores so often the proprietors of Rosalie Bay Resort started the RoSTI “Rosalie Sea Turtle Initiative” project to conserve the sea Turtles.

The resort is looking at the end of 2007 to opening its doors to visitors. Don’t take my word for it. You need to visit the resort to make you own impression. You will love it

Very interesting, especially the part about the turtles. I sincerely hope that they can be observed without harm coming to them.

When will the Rosalie Bay Resort open? How can I get information about the resort? We are planning to come to Dominica in February 2008 & may want to stay there if it is open. Thank you.

Hi Serrrie,

It’s funny that you asked this question. Just last week I met the Owners of Rosalie Bay Resort, and asked them the very same question. They told me that they’re hoping to open the resort sometime between Oct - Nov 2007 if everything goes as planned. As for more information, I’m guessing by then the resort will have it’s website up and running.

I can’t wait to see how this resort turns out.

My husband and I were there in 04 and met with the owners of the resort as well as Marine Biologist Rowan Byrne. It was very interesting all of the awareness that Rosalie Sea Turtle Initiative, ROSTI , was doing to educate the locals about these amazing Leatherbacks. We were even lucky enough to go out at night to stay with the men while they patroled the beach so no one would interfere with the turtles coming up to lay their eggs.

This resort will be a fine resort when it is completed, they have had many challenges to overcome. Even if the resort isn’t open when you visit Dominica there are so many things the island has to offer it is very diverse and the people were very nice. I hope to return to Dominca very soon. The diving is GREAT! However, if you go to dive, take time to see the inland part of the island, the forests are amazing. If you are planning to drive, note the roads are very narrow and you must be a very laid back person. If you get nervous easily DON”T DRIVE.

Your visit will be much more enjoyable if you plan ahead and do some homework. There are many people who have land for sale, you can find them online and you can get a wealth of information from them.

Go to Dominca and enjoy! Keep up the great work ROSI! I hope to stay at your resort soon and would like to be notified when it is opened.
