My family and I went to Dominica last year and stayed at a small cottage in Calibishie. The views were amazing!!! The beaches were lovely, and so were the people. We bought a lot in Calibishie and can't wait to build a home there. The area is a new development and should provide more comfortable places to stay in the future. As fellow Americans, it was a bit of an adjustment but otherwise it's a great place to visit.

Great little lodge (is that the right description?) right on the edge of Calibishie. We rented a 2 bedroom with own kitchen, balcony overlooking a lovely Island close to shore and helpful easy going landlord Trevor and his 2 lovely kids Rian and Ethan. The room cost $80 US for 3 people.

There is a walk down to a great beach with a river running into a bay with eagles, parrots and hawks with coconuts growing everywhere. It really was Eden.

We visited the Kalinago people, had lunch at Pagua Bay restaurant and drank beers at Randy's - a local guy that was a Chippendale that strips once every while for the Calibishie landladies (so they tell me).

We only had 2 days but felt that we got a great taste of Island life. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bay View to anyone.

Calibishie and the Northeast Coast of Dominica are truly beautiful. Great beaches, beautiful coastline, red rocks, beautiful turquoise seas and greenery galore. At this point, not a lot of really comfortable places to stay. Calibishie Lodges is decent but can get hot at night, as they are on the wrong side of the hill for the breeze. There is a great new place opening in August, Calibishie Cove, www.calibishiecove.com, that looks like it is going to be quite luxurious with amazing views and designed for great breezes and total comfort day and night.
Hope to check it out finished on our next visit.
