Experience Dominica – The Nature Island: Dominica Vacations | Exotic Vacations | Honeymoon Destination

Dominica weekly is a personal weblog about the nature island of Dominica.

One common question which people always ask me at the gym: How can loss my body fat? And I always say to them; if you want to reduce you body fat, focus on increasing the amount of exercise you get rather than decreasing your food intake. Also I’m not saying that it’s ok to eat a bucket of KFC everyday. 🙂 Just keep in mind that there is a significant relationship between lack of physical activity and fat.

Recent studies have shown that the recommended daily allowance for calories does not compare with the body’s actual needs. For example, although 2400 calories have been calculated for older folks, they in fact burned an average of 2800 calories daily.

People who want to lose weight must simply increasing their physical activity. Just being more active in general (such as taking a causal walk instead of using the car, moving around instead of sitting still, sitting up instead of lying down as well as showing some excitement and enthusiasm instead of boredom), are things that more effectively burns calories and reduces body fat. For some reason people have seemed to have lost sight of the importance of being active.

Thousands of people all round Dominica and the Caribbean are trying to lose weight, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars a year on diet programs and products; often they do lose some weight. But, if you check with the same people five years later, you will find that nearly all have regained whatever weight they lost. Being seriously overweight and particularly obesity prompts individuals to a number of diseases and serious health problems, and it’s now a known fact that when calories intake is excessive, some of the excess amounts to saturated fat.

Why Some Diets Don’t Work

There are many people who diet without exercising often gets fatter with time. Although your weight may initially drop while dieting, such weight loss consists mostly of water and muscle. That’s why when the weight returns, it comes back as fat. To avoid getting fatter over time, increase your metabolism by exercising regularly.

Walking is one of the greatest exercises for strengthening bones, controlling weight, toning the leg muscles, maintaining good posture and improving positive self-concept. To lose weight, it’s more important to walk for time than speed. Walking at a moderate pace yields longer workouts with less soreness – leading to more miles and more fat worked off on a regular basis.

There are times where a high intensity walks on alternate days help condition your system. In a walking, weight-loss program, you’re not required to walk an hour every day as some people would have you believe. It just takes 20mins a day – which I personally like to refer to as Me Time, leaving all the stress from work, home, etc behind and just enjoy the outdoors (Rain or Shine) 😀 .

The recent Seven Seas Health walk hosted by HHV Whitchurch was an excellence opportunity to get out and walk together with people who recognize the importance of walking in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

While trying to lose belly fat it is important that you have a positive attitude.
I also think that changing your diet is more important for healthy weight loss then exercise, but combining them is ideal of course
