Ramblings From The Nature Paradise of Dominica

Posted by: Chris (Dominicaweekly@gmail.com)

Dominica’s lone electricity company DOMLEC has come in for a serious tongue lashing from Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit who he explains has been waging a war against his government to maintain its high electricity rates. Prime Minister Skerrit also warned that liberalization of the electricity sector may come as early as August.

Is Prime Minister Skerrit calling for Electricity Liberalization?

Electricity Liberalization- refers to the liberalization of electricity markets. As electricity supply is a natural monopoly, this entails complex and costly systems of regulation to enforce a system of competition.

Is this the beginning for the End of Domlec Monopoly?
