Regional air carrier, Leeward Islands Air Transport (LIAT) were meeting on Wednesday in st johns Angitua to consider a new financial proposal brought forward by the Texan billionaire Allen Stanford(sole shareholder of Caribbean Star Airlines) to assist the cash-strapped carrier.
This merger between the two carriers is seen as a way out of financial difficulty for both LIAT and its closest competitor Caribbean Star, which virtually operates the same route as LIAT and has a similar schedule throughout the island.
