20 Million Dollar Contract Signed for the First Phase of the Roseau Road Improvement Project

The Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructural Development on Wednesday signed a 20Million Dollar contract for works to begin on the 1st Phase on the long awaited Roseau Road reinstatement project.

The project to be constructed with funds provided by the Kuwaiti funds and the Government of Dominica will be done in 3 main phases. The first phase of the project will comprise of 2 new roads and a bridge. It is expected that the completed project will enhance the look of the city and reduce traffic congestion. Explaining was Government Engineer Emile Lancelot.

Meantime, Minister for Public Works and Infrastructural Development Ambrose George revealed some of the main objectives of the project. Alka Rafi and Sons – a reputable Asian Company with over 15years working in the Caribbean region has been awarded the contract by the Government of Dominica to Carry out the project. The project which will be undertaken during a 12month time frame is expected to begin by mid-October.

What I haven’t heard the official word on is what are the plans for the relocation of the Grotto Home for the Homeless? I am hearing nonsense about putthing them in temporary shelter comprising of shipping containers, up at Stockfarm? seriously folks, DA is a hot country, that CANNOT be the plan. It would probably be better to put all of them in the nearby prison instead?! They would likely be happier there…..
