Junior Calypso Monarch gets laptop, free internet
Janae Jackson in action Capturing the title of Junior Monarch 2012 has landed Janae Jackson a Lenovo laptop from LIME and one year’s complimentary broadband internet service to enjoy the use of her new piece of technology. The Convent High School student beat a field of fifteen young calypsonians representing a wide cross section of primary and secondary schools across the island on her way to winning the title. Her strong delivery and perfect rendition of her song made her a force to be reckoned with at this year’s competition. LIME has been collaborating with the LEO Club of Dominica for the past five years as the Headline sponsor of the Junior Monarch competition.
Miss Caribbean World shines spotlight on Dominica – Colin Piper
Piper Miss Dominica’s first regional success has been recognized as another opportunity for the Caribbean spotlight to shine on Dominica. Nadira Lando was crowned Miss Caribbean World a little after 12:30 on Sunday morning. She beat sixteen other contestants from across the Caribbean who competed in the Tortola-held (BVI) pageant. “Similar to the notoriety and the good press that we received from (cricketer) Shane Shillingford and his performance, any Dominican that goes out there and does well is doing a great deal for the country,” Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) CEO Colin Piper told DNO about Nadira’s win.
Nadira Lando sets eyes on Miss Carival 2012
Miss Dominica Nadira Lando being crowned Miss Caribbean World in Tortola early Sunday morning Newly crowned Miss Caribbean World, Nadira Lando, is setting her eyes on another regional pageant, Miss Carival 2012. The show, which has been running for 27 years now in St. Vincent, is expected to take place on Friday July 6th, 2012 at Carnival City, Victoria Park. “Right now when I return to Dominica I will be competing in Miss Carival….” Lando said in an interview minutes after she won the Miss Caribbean World crown in Tortola early Sunday morning
