Antigua gov’t denies anti-Falklands’ pact

St. John’s Antigua- Government, by way of a press statement issued Wednesday, disassociated Antigua & Barbuda from statements made in the wake of the recent Eleventh ALBA summit, which were carried in the local, regional and international press, about a ban on Falkland Islands-flagged ships. A statement from the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs said several Caribbean states and Nicaragua announced, last weekend, that they will bar, from their ports, any vessel flying the Falkland Islands flag.

A statement from the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs said several Caribbean states and Nicaragua announced, last weekend, that they will bar, from their ports, any vessel flying the Falkland Islands flag. The declaration is similar to the Mercosur (South American trading bloc) ban imposed last December.

My impression of Dominica on first visit

Dear Editor, WOW!! After three years of planning my first visit to the country named Dominica or Waitakubuli, it finally happened soon after New Years 2012. No pictures could capture Dominica’s beauty as I headed to Roseau passing villages and breathtaking mountain scenery.  Felt at home right away with friendly people I met and town is an easy walk around. Dominica is impressive and correctly called the Nature Island and this New York City visitor was pleasantly surprised to see few people smoking cigarettes.  I stayed in a quiet area surrounded by hills of bush, fruit trees, palms, and other tropical plants which made for an easy transition to be stress free, eat healthy, while breathing in fresh air. To spend a vacation without tv, internet, cell phone or noise was a welcomed reprieve and each day was greeted by a small lizard until it disappeared without a goodbye.
