Hurricane Bill gains strength

Weather forecasters say Hurricane Bill could soon be upgraded to a major storm.
The latest update from the Miami-based National Hurricane Centre said Bill, a category two storm, was 635 miles east of the Leeward Islands, packing winds of 110 miles per hour. The storm is expected reach Bermuda later this week.

Researchers Cut Storm Forecast

Weather forecasters at the Colorado State University have reduced their forecast for the 2009 Atlantic hurricane season.
The research team on Tuesday predicted that ten tropical storms will form, with four strengthening into hurricanes.
That’s down from their June prediction of 11 tropical storms with five hurricanes.
