DNO POLL(final result): Readers support gay cruise tourism

A Dominica News Online poll is showing that the majority of readers favor gay cruise tourism. The poll, which has been running for over a week, asked readers whether or not Dominica should welcome gay cruise passengers. This follows the furore created when two gay men were arrested last week for reportedly having sex on a cruise ship in full view of onlookers. A total of 3,777 readers participated in the poll

Authorities hold consultations on crime/anti-social behavior

Discussions on the level of criminal and anti-social behavior on the island have been initiated here, with government authorities holding a series of consultations on the matter. The initiative was launched in Colihaut this week, with other consultations planned over the next few weeks “across the length and breadth of Dominica” according to a release from the Government Information Service. Officials say they are soliciting the views of the communities they visit, in a bid to find ways of redressing an existing “unpleasant criminal trend”. The Colihaut consultation on Monday is expected to be followed by a similar exercise at Salybia on Thursday (29th March)

Gay couple was having sex – report

The ship at the Bayfront last week As controversy continues to swirl over the arrest of two gay men in Dominica reports have surfaced that they were actually engaged in sex on the balcony of the ship that was docked in Roseau last week. Gay website Queerty.com. published what it called an ‘exclusive firsthand account’ of the incident when Dennis Mayer and John Hart of Palm Springs, were arrested on  buggery charges. According to the website a fellow cruise passenger gave the following account of the incident: “My boyfriend and I, and a busload of other guys, did see what was happening on the balcony of the Celebrity Summit as we waited for our excursion to depart
