HEALTH TALK: Obesity – Part two
Here beginneth the second of what I had thought would be a two-part series on this topic. But as it turns out, obesity is such a huge issue – pun intended – that we may well run into a part three. Let’s see. Last time around, we discussed mostly risk factors for obesity and tried to look into some socio-economic aspects (which I hope most of you understood and took seriously).
DGS rides wave of success in inter-school competitions
Literacy winners Ashner De Jean and Dilano Miller pose with gifts and teachers The Dominica Grammar School (DGS) is riding a wave of success in inter-school competitions held recently. The DGS recorded impressive wins in the Secondary Schools Athletics Championships held last week, capturing 25 gold medals, 17 silver medals and 6 bronze medals to take the top spot as overall champions. The U-14 netball team also defeated the Portsmouth Secondary School in the finals, 18-7, and the school is also the current volleyball champions after defeating the Dominica State College 3-2 sets earlier this month. The DGS is also the reigning U-15 Boys Football champion.
Police in search of NECS student
Police are seeking a 16-year-old student of North East Comprehensive School (NECS) for allegedly wounding his school-mate earlier Tuesday. “The students were involved in a ‘fracas’ at the school, which resulted in the hospitalization of one of the students with injuries to his head, left arm and left armpit,” Superintendent in charge of the north Duke Severin, reported. Severin said violence at schools must not be accepted. “It’s one of the things that we really frown upon and we are to try our best to see how it can be curbed,” he said
My former best friend wants to swap my boyfriend
I am 17 years old an I am having this problem where my once upon best friend became my enemy due to the fact that she wants to swap my boyfriend from me. I always tell him that if he does not love me just gently let me go but he always tells me that he loves me. He introduced me to his parents and I actually do mostly everything that I can to help him. Now this girl actually calls my phone and threatens me in all sorts of ways and everytime I tell him about it, he would say she is just trying to make me jealous and I should just ignore her
