Breaking Dominica News for 26th June 2008

Non-stop Service to Dominica announced by LIAT

The Discover Dominica Tourism Authority today announced that LIAT, the regional Caribbean airline, has introduced daily non-stop service between St. Lucia’s Herwanorra Airport (UVF) and Dominica’s Canefield Airport (DCF), located on the western portion of the island just 10 minutes drive from the capital city of Roseau. The flights are operated by Carib Aviation (3Q) in a codeshare agreement with LIAT (LI).

Flight #131 will depart Dominica daily at 12:10 p.m., arriving into St. Lucia at 12:55 p.m. The return flight #132 will depart St. Lucia at 4:05 p.m., arriving into Dominica at 4:50 p.m. Carib Aviation uses a 19-seat DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft for these flights.


Durand Selected among the 17 to Play in Antigua

Former Windward Island left arm spinner, Mervin Durand is one of 17 players selected by the Dominica Softball Development Cricket Association to participate in a series of friendly matches against a touring Antigua team next month.

The unit was selected based on their performances in the just concluded national competition.


Dominica Government is going ‘E’

The government of Dominica says it is going ‘E’ and on June 25, 2008 made funds available to facilitate that new focus.
At a presentation ceremony on Wednesday an initial amount of EC $ 37 thousand was made available to the Reform Management Unit (RMU) for the construction of government’s website.
