Calypso Association and Pat Aaron in More Controversy - Will King Dice be Allowed to Participate in 2010?

Q95News - Concerns have been raised by the public inquiring whether or not four-time calypso king Dennison ‘Dice’ Joseph should be given automatic entry in the Quarter Finals of the 2010 Calypso monarch competition. While some persons share the view that he should not be allowed automatic entry given that he did not participate in the eliminations, others claim that given his status in the calypso arena as four-time Calypso Monarch, he should be given automatic entry.

Meanwhile Songwriter Pat Aaron says whereas it is the decision of the Dominica Calypso Association to say whether or not King Dice should be allowed automatic entry into the quarter finals, he believes that no Former Calypso King should be mandated to start out at eliminations. Aaron has called on the DCA to review the rules as it relates to former calypso kings being required to enter the competition at eliminations.

Aaron goes on further to say that it is not through the personal fault of Dice that he did not participate in the Eliminations round. He says the Calypso Association itself was not certain about hosting the eliminations on December 20th until the morning of the 19th, as a result, he says Dice along with some other participants had not rehearsed for that date.
