Dominica Public Service Union Celebrate 71st Anniversary

Yesterday, members and supporters of the Dominica Public Service Union celebrated the union’s 71st anniversary under the theme, unity for survival and prosperity. President of the DPSU Mr. Mervin Anthony stated that many have made sacrifices which helped the union to survive tough times, and the struggle to keep the organization together has not ended.

Mr. Anthony expressed his belief that there remain many groups and persons set against the progress of the DPSU, and in some cases political influence is used to spark division among members. Mr. Thomas called on all public sector workers to take a unified stand against any attempts to deliberately exterminate trade unions and to fight for the rights of the working population. Mervin Thomas will be relinquishing his post as President of the Union when a new president is elected later today during the Union’s business session.
