Q95News - Health Minister Hon. Julius Timothy says the current drought period facing the Caribbean Region poses serious challenges for all sectors in Dominica. Timothy says this has major implications for the health, agricultural, environmental, tourism and public utilities sectors as this drought could result in increased cost of electricity bills as there would be greater dependence on fossil fuel rather than hydro-power, and increased health hazards as a result of the non-availability of water for consumption. He says this also threatens the ability to ensure food sustainability.
