Inmate at Dominica State Prison Commits Suicide

A young man named Jerry Luke took his own life yesterday in his prison cell after being convicted of rape charges and getting a prison term sentence of five years. According to the deceased family he was the eldest of his siblings and had been a troubled child from young. Jerry Luke was a resident of belles.
According to reports Luke hung himself using the string that he wore around his waist. The family considers the police officers who keep watch over prisoners as being neglectful so as to allow a prisoner to enter the cell wearing any material that could be used in a suicidal attempt. Moreover, relatives of the deceased are saying that Luke was known to be suicidal and should have been kept under a watchful eye.
Meantime all attempts made to contact the prison facility have failed. The Superintendent of the prison remains tight lipped with regards to addressing the issue. All he had to say was that the matter is still under investigation.
