Integrity in Public Office Act Now Effective

After almost six years since it was passed in Parliament, the much talked about Integrity in Public Office Act will come into effect today.Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit announced in the 2008/09 National budget that the Act of 2003 will finally be implemented on September 1st 2008, after mounting pressure from the Opposition to do so. The implementation of the IPO Act is a historic moment for Dominica.

The IPO office space is located at the top of the building that formally housed Topic Craft on Independence Street.

Meantime Opposition Leader Ron Green says that the Act is not only overdue, but the issue of its retroactivity still remains on the burner.
