Judgment Has Been Handed Down in the Election Petition Matter

Two of the six election petitions filed by the United Workers Party challenging the results of the December 18, 2009 general elections will be heard before a court. The issue of bribery and access to the state owned media has been thrown out. Ron Green says he is happy that the matter regarding dual citizenship is going forward.

Lawyer representing the UWP council Joffery Letang says he did not agree with how the judge applied the law but his judgment will be scrutinized to determine whether an appeal is necessary. Meantime Attorney General Francine Baron Royer says the ruling is an indication that evidence must be submitted when allegations are made.
