Octuplets Born, Parents Expected Only 7 Babies

A mother in California, who expected to give birth to seven babies, shocked the doctor when she gave birth instead to eight.

The babies, six boys and two girls, were born nine weeks premature but are in stable condition. It is only the second time in U.S. history that octuplets have been born.

“It is quite easy to miss a baby when you’re anticipating seven,” said Dr. Harold Henry, one of the doctors who assisted with the Cesarean section.
