Distinguished International® Hotels, Residences and Resorts announced that it has reached an agreement with the Carib Council to develop the first ever Eco-Lodge Resort and Conference Centre in the Carib Territory of Dominica.
The designated site for this private-public partnership between Distinguished International®, the Carib Council and the Government of Dominica with continuing support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Kalinago people, will be the Carib Model Village next to “Morne Diablotins” National Park and Central Forest Reserve.

The 2008 OECS Male Volleyball championships climaxed last evening with the bronze and gold medal places being contested. The championship, contested by five teams and held over a four-day period at the Marriott Dome, saw St. Kitts/Nevis capturing three of the seven special awards at stake.
Defending champions Dominica found the going too tough, resulting in them failing to reach the finals, however in the third place playoff, Dominica made amends for their first match defeat to St. Martin and had sweet revenge when they beat them 3-0.
After dropping one set in their first match in this year’s competition to win 3-1, St. Kitts/Nevis proved that they were true OECS champions when they thrashed St. Lucia 3-0 to take the title.

ROSEAU, Dominica (CMC):The minority opposition Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) yesterday expressed concern over plans by the Roosevelt Skerrit government to table broadcast legislation in parliament.
DFP executive member Swanston Carbon has also called on the Media Workers Association of Dominica (MWAD) to seriously examine the contents of the proposed legislation.
Prime Minister Skerrit Speaks Out in the Wake of IPO Panel Discussion
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says that despite speculations that transactions which happened in 2003 will not be up for investigation as it relates to the Integrity in Public Office (IPO) Act, will be included. The Prime Minister also spoke on behalf of his Cabinet members at panel discussion on the IPO Act which took place Thursday evening at the Garraway Hotel, saying that neither do they have anything to veil, calling them good-standing citizens of Dominica. 23-year old Tamara Shillingford of Castle Comfort has been released on bail for EC$35,000 after she was arrested and charged for the possession of a chemical placed in three bottles which the police believe to liquid cocaine. Ms shillingford was arrested on Thursday last week by members of the drug squad.
She was granted $35,000 bail by the court. Her mother and father bailed her. As apart of her bail conditions, Ms Shilling was asked to surrender her passport and report to the police headquarters on a daily basis.
