Q95News - Prime Minister Skerrit re-emphasized the significance of the implementation of the value added tax instituted in 2006 upon recommendations from the IMF. He says strong decisions for structural reform were necessary. This measure along with increased income tax, he states, allows for Dominicans to have more control over their finances. The Prime Minister also pointed to other Caribbean governments who have had to or will shortly need to mirror steps taken by Dominica re VAT. He describes the value added tax as the most equitable and best tax system.
