Dominica Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has ordered tighter security including cameras at the Princess Margaret Hospital following the latest incident in which a man made sexual advances towards a female patient at the Children’s ward.
President of the Dominica Nurses Association, Rosie Felix called for increased security after police said they had detained one man as a result of the incident.
The Prime Minister said that several steps would be taken to tighten security at the island’s main hospital.
In addition Mr. Skerrit said four security persons had been assigned to the hospital and that all health workers would need to show proper identification before entering the compound.
National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmoore said the additional security measures outlined by the Prime Minister would cost in excess of $US 31,000 annually.
