Police put brakes on ‘cash for gold’

Police are reporting that they have put the brakes on a business that has caused some concerns in Dominica. Top cop Chief Cyril Carette said the so-called ‘cash for gold’ business had been the center of concern for law enforcement for some time. He told a press conference recently that while the business is not illegal, most of the gold sold in the booming business came from stolen items. It is reported that Venezuelans on the island have been encouraging locals to sell their unwanted gold for money.

Jamaican police get tough on public demonstrations

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) this week advised members of the public, especially representatives of the island’s political parties, of the relevant laws pertaining to public marches and public processions. The police warned that under the Public Order Act (Section 4), it is unlawful for any public marches to take place during the night. DLP holds Annual Awards Ceremony
