UWP Opposition Leader Earl Williams Under Heavy Scrutiny

WHERE DE MONEY? That was the question plastered on the front page of this week Times Newspaper - along with a picture of Opposition Leader Earl Williams holding up a placard reading “Criminal Investigation Now.”

[Excerpt from the Times Newspaper article]

“Almost two weeks after the opposition United Worker Party walked out of Parliament speaking to issues of corruption and accountability, its own leader Earl Williams is now under the gun for similar matters.”

“There are now increased calls from top members of his party and legal associates for him to step down as leader.”

According to the times newspaper - a lawyer told the newspaper that Mr. Williams were having difficulty in re-paying over EC$300,000 which he allegedly used from a client’s account for a land transaction on the west coast of the island.

====Personal Note====

How stupid can Earl Williams be? Here it is…the United Workers Party for the last two months has been calling for the Integrity in Public Act to be implemented, and now to find out that their own command-in-chief has a few skeletons in his closet.

There is a strong possibility that he will announce his resignation the UWP leader in the next few days. The word on the street is that a large majority of the party members has voted for Mr. Williams’ resignation.

At this point I have no idea who to believe - Labour Party or United Workers Party. I’m basically setting in “Limbo”, and I believe most Dominicans are presently seating in the same boat.

Whats your opinion on the Opposition Leader land purchase controversy? Have your say ….

Personal Matter my foot! How can this be treated simply as a personal matter when he is currently holding a public office? Are you saying that we shoul feel safe that he would never dig his greedy hands in the public purse? Ever heard of habits at home carried abroad?
