UWP President Edison James wants the Court to Clarify Constitutional Issues Surrounding the Seats of Two Opposition MP’s before Proposed Bi-Elections take Place

President of the United Workers Party Edison James says the question of resolving the issues surrounding the seats of two Opposition MP’s which were declared vacant by House Speaker Knights remains a matter which the UWP is pursuing in the court.

James says persons are still confused as to who is the ‘competent authority’ as stated by PM Skerrit, who declared the seats of Edison James and Hector John vacant. James says it is imperative for the matter to be resolved at the appropriate level in accordance with law. James says though the dates for the Bi-elections have been announced by the Prime Minister, once the court proceedings begin, due regard will have to be given to any decision so taken in the court, before any bi-election can take place.
