The Caribbean’s longest-running diving festival is currently underway on the Nature Island. Dominica’s 18th annual Dive Fest runs through July 17 as the island plays host to one of the most fascinating diving experiences in the Caribbean.

Experienced and beginner divers alike learn firsthand why the island is rated as one of the Top 10 dive locations in the world, boasting a variety of dive sites that feature dramatic walls and pinnacles, pristine reefs and Champagne snorkeling.

Dive Fest is a great time to experience world-class diving on a budget, with many Dive Fest activities offered free of cost or available at a considerably reduced rate –– including diving sessions for both adults and children (click here for full schedule of events).

Dive Fest also offers plenty of excitement for non-divers, including whale watching, a children’s treasure hunt and the hotly contested annual Kubuli Carib canoe race. The excitement culminates with the Soufriere Kubuli Beach Party on July 17.

Dominica to host its 2nd Annual Jazz ‘n Creole at the historic Fort Shirley on Pentecost Sunday June 12, 2011.

The Show was born last year in May and was initially called Creole N All that Jazz. The name was changed this year to Jazz ‘n Creole since the Discover Dominica Authority was essentially borrowing the name from someone else last year.

The event takes place on Sunday June 12, 2011 from 2:00 – 9:00pm, at Cabrits National Park which is situated in the Northern end of the island in the 2nd town of Portsmouth.

This is the ideal venue for this event since the backdrop possesses exceptional views of the tranquil Caribbean Sea.

The Cabrits is the location of one of the old English Forts in the Caribbean, Fort Shirley and thus is one of our historical sites we are proud of and love to showcase to visitors.

The Fort was completely renovated. Discover Dominica Authority plans to have this event correspond every year with the Pentecost holiday weekend.
