Purely Dominica

Purely Dominica

The Ministry for energy and petroleum and president for the PDSVA, Rafael Ramirez, arrive in Dominica today Monday 26th of June for the signing of the PetroCaribe agreement. This signing will formalize the agreement between the government of Dominica and Venezuela to cooperate in energy associated matters. What does this mean for the energy sector in Dominica? Which I believe in Dominica involves every Dominican.

The critics and our local government are being optimistic that this PetroCaribe agreement will be beneficial to all Dominicans, and consumers will see a reduction in their Electricity Bill and at the Gas Bumps.Too many instances Dominicans are receiving the back end of the sick, will there come a time were Dominicans will able to put some money back into their pockets and stop receiving Electrical Bill like Mortgage payments.

We welcome the PetroCaribe agreement in Dominica; but I can’t help to wonder – who are the ones going to benefit the most from the agreement? Will it be the low end consumers (Our bus Drivers, small farmers) or will it go into the pockets of the Government ministers? I’m waiting to see the outcome.
