DOMINICA - Life Unscripted on the Nature Island

Ramblings From The Nature Island of Dominica

Humor is to the brain – like what are beans to coffee, so why don’t people laugh at your jokes? Here are some no-brainer reasons why humor sometimes comes across more like a wet dog than a funny story.

It’s been told before - and few people other than a parent show interest in the same old line.

You can’t remember the punch line – so you make one up or leaving it out altogether and hope nobody notices. Guess what! Busted!

You laugh hard at your own lines – sidesplitting belly laughs, people can no longer hear what’s funny. My advice – keep your sidesplitting belly lines to yourself.

The topic has little to do with people you tell it to … and so nobody gets where you’re going with the humor.

Your topic hits too close to home and so people feel insulted, embarrassed, or annoyed.

Comedy - trends to strike people funniest when it triggers a difference between what people commonly expect and what they‘re are accustom to. What make people laugh where you work?

Synonyms: Comedy, Wit, Funniness, Joking
