High Court Judge Davidson Baptiste has ordered six members of the opposition United Workers Party (UWP) to pay cost of EC$204,000 after losing their court battle against the Speaker of the House, the Attorney General and the Sergeant-at-Arms.
Justice Baptiste ruled that the speaker, Alix Boyd-knight did nothing wrong when she first altered the question to be posed by the opposition on the Order and her subsequent refusal to allow Earl Williams to ask a supplementary question.
The Judge then dismissed the motion by the Opposition members and set aside March 3, 2008 for both parties to address him on issue of cost. The claimants in the matter are Earl Williams, Edison James, Claudius Sanford, Norris Charles, Nicholls Esprit and Ron Green.
