One Caribbean religious leader has questioned Pope Benedict’s position on condom use in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

While on a visit to Africa earlier this month, Pope Benedict said use of condoms could aggravate the spread of AIDS.

The Pope’s remarks have also been criticised by several government leaders and leading organisations in the fight against the AIDS epidemic.

One of the world’s top medical journals, the Lancet, has also criticised the Pontiff for distorting scientific evidence in his remarks on condom use, and demanded he make a retraction.

Pastor Stanford Simon who heads the St George’s Baptist Church in Grenada thinks that while he agrees that condom use may encourage promiscuity, it has also helped in the fight of HIV/AIDS.

=======My Personal Note=======

Pope Benedict XVI is wrong – If we were living in a perfect world we wouldn’t need condoms. The fact is we’re not living in a perfect world; we need to do what would be nearest to perfection. Since we are talking about the value of Human Life, the nearest to perfect would be to wear the condom and save the world from this horrible blight.
