Experience Dominica – The Nature Island: Dominica Vacations | Exotic Vacations | Honeymoon Destination

Dominica weekly is a personal weblog about the nature island of Dominica.

One of the best ways to kick-off the New Year is by starting a 30-day trial of a new daily habit or activity. Instead of creating a New Year’s Resolution that you probably won’t stick to, it’s better just commit to a short-term change. Make a January resolution only. If it doesn’t work out, you’re completely free to abandon it on January 31st, but for the first 30 days, use every ounce of resolve and self-discipline you can gather to stick to it, whatever it takes. At the end of the 30 days, you’ll be in a great position to decide whether you want to commit to a lasting change, having 30 days of success behind you.

People who’ve use the 30-day trial method to form positive new habits and break bad habits. For example: quitting smoking, learning to invest, getting out of debt, starting a new exercise program, waking up early, going to bed early, giving up soda, quitting coffee and lots more… Have you decided what 30-day trail you’re going to commit too for 2008. Let’s hear about it in the comments.

It’s already December! If you’re like me you’re maybe wondering – where did this year go? Feels like just last week we were talking about New Year’s resolutions. No doubt you’ve got shopping to do and a few work deadlines this month. I won’t be surprise that some of your 2007 resolution list is still undone. But with only 26 days left in 2007, there are few other items you want to cross off your list that’ll make 2008 easier.

Make your last doctor/dentist appointments of the year.
december_first.jpgLots of health plans have a coverage limit for each calendar year. So if you haven’t gotten to the doctor or dentist yet? Make yourself a December appointment to use up your 2007 allocation.

Make your tax-deductible purchases and charitable donations.

If you itemize your income tax deductions, with March ony a few months away, now the time for a trip to the building supplies store or even the computer store. 🙂 Also, keep yourself from feeling selfish when you’re calculating your charitable donations on your tax return on March.

Put a few dollars towards stopping global poverty or helping to fight AIDS before 2007 is up. As a matter of fact, Sunday past (December 1st) just happens to be World AIDS Day.

You can even pack up all those unused gadgets, clothing and other doodads laying about the house and take ’em to the Goodwill or Out-reach center. Get yourself a receipt to claim the tax deduction for those, too…I think ❗ Any more 2006 to-do’s I missed? Post ’em up in the comments.
