Purely Dominica

Yesterday there was this an article posted in the Antigua Sun online newspaper – Digicel Welcomes Home Antigua’s Rising Star. After reading through the article, there were certain comments made by Digicel Rising Star Antigua Judge Algernon “Serpent” Watts that caught my attention on terms which the competition was judged.

Here is one of the commnets made by the “Serpent” to the Antigua Sun:

“With a solemn face, Serpent gave rest to this curiosity. “It is my honest opinion … that the young lady sitting to my right (Daina) won three of the three on the final night.” A collective opinion of the three judges who stood on panel, Serpent would like to see an amendment made to the judging criteria in the future where the judges either make the final decision, or have at least a 50 per cent contribution to the outcome”.

After reading this comment, it’s clear to see that if it was up to the panel of judges to determine the winner of competition, there is a strong chance that Tarina would of loss the competition. In my opinion this is outright biasness by the Antiguan judge, who in turn makes this comment to the media:

“Tarina is an incredible talent … she is an asset to the brand ‘Digicel Rising Star’, and I know she’s someone the company will be very happy with marketing their product for 2007-2008.”

Well, I guess I can’t blame serpent for supporting his fellow Antiguan; I would do the same thing if it was Tarina. Not taking anything away from Diana, she put on some great performances, and has the talent to make big in the music industry, but it was clear Tarina was the better of the two competitors and she deserves the right to be to be Digicel Rising Star for 2007 winner. Tarina is simply the best 😎
