Despite my hopeless decision to bet on the Phoenix Suns to win the Basketball game last night. Where phoenix lost by five points, but that didn’t cause me distress because I knew I was taking a gamble on Phoenix to win in San Antonio. And thats what life is all about, taking chances – you will not always win. As the saying goes “you win some and you loss some.”

So in that sense I was guaranteed victory simply by doing my taking a chance, regardless of how badly outmatched Phoenix was against the San Antonio Spurs .

The only way to win consistently at life is to regard every situation as a learning experience. That’s the only outcome you can really guarantee. If you make that your primary aim, losing becomes impossible.

Even though a game of basketball might seem an unfair comparison to life, but it’s the same principle at work. A bigger sting just delivers a more valuable lesson. Not every decision you make in your life will be the right one. Thats why you to need playing (making life choices) helps you learn.

One thing I heard from my last manager that I will never forget is the word – “Follow Up”. A lot of people don’t realize it, you can learn a lot about your life if you just follow from time to time.

However, if you want to become a manager of anything, you have to practice using the word. You start a project; you will need to do follow up even though your project is already a year into completion. Check through if there are any complication, arising issue, hidden problem etc. Sometimes we are so busy involve in our personal life agendas, we don’t even realize where we went wrong – but following up or just taking some time reflecting on things of the pass can bring you great insight for the future.

And just like any project once you’ve done that, plan your immediate action to address the problem and fine-tune the whole operation.

Finally, can you guess what the next thing to do is? You guess it right… Follow up again. I actually want to ask you this question. How’s that 2008 Resolution going?

I’m sure you’ve a good idea where I’m going with this one. The most important step is NOT the percentage of achievement. It can be 0%, 10% or 20%. The most important step is actually “FOLLOW UP”. We need to check back every now and then on the progress of our resolution. The progress can be positive or negative, it doesn’t matter. But when we follow up we will know our status and hopefully after that we can structure our plan to get back on track.

My question to you is: If you can put a percentage on your resolution achievement, what percentage would that be?
