Not that being part of a trend is ever a good reason to start something new, but if it helps you move forward by being part of the “in” crowd, then you really need to plant your own edible garden.

That’s right, having your own vegetable garden is now trendy. In fact, there are more households with herb garden than ever before.

There is nothing more local than food grown in your own backyard, your windowsills, or on patio containers.

Growing your own fruits and vegetables means that you know exactly what does and does not go into your food and exactly where it comes from.

So, aside from its health benefits, do you need some other reasons to grown your own food?

People all around Dominica have been suffering from an outbreak of gastroenteritis, a truly horrible illness, especially dangerous to the very young or elderly, characterized by simultaneous vomiting and diarrhea.

Dominica has been further victimized by accusers saying that the cause is something in our water, or that our kitchen sanitation and personal hygiene are to blame

But if it’s something in the water, why doesn’t everyone drinking water from the same source become ill at around the same time?

And why, then do people who drink water from separate, quite different, sources (such as from Roseau and Portsmouth pipes, and rain collection) become ill? And certainly even if one kitchen here were unclean, how do people from nowhere near become ill? The answer is that the culprit is the norovirus, and it is brought here on filthy cruise ship galleys.

A good article on this can be found at:Caribbean Cruise Ship Turns Into Diarrhea Nightmare Vessel

It’s time to make the cruise ships clean up their acts, and also apologize to Dominica. Dominica’s water is clean, and people shouldn’t be advised not to drink it. Our kitchens are clean and produce delicious food that is good for you too, not the fat-laden, heart artery clogging stuff that the cruise ship galleys put out.

INTERESTING STORY: A dog version of the anti-depressant Prozac has been approved for sale to British pet owners.

The one-a-day tablet, which tastes of beef, is said to help cure ‘canine compulsive disorder’ and ‘separation anxiety’ brought on by owners’ long absences during the day.

The drug, called Reconcile, is also designed to curb the compulsive pacing, chewing and dribbling which its makers claim is a result of depression brought on by their owners’ long absences.

The anti-depressant Prozac has been used to cure compulsive behaviour in humans, and works by increasing the brain’s levels of serotonin, a ‘happiness’ chemical.

Side effects of Reconcile can include lethargy, reduced appetite, vomiting, shaking, diarrhoea, restlessness, excessive barking, aggression and seizures in a small number of dogs.

Now they are pushing drugs onto dogs. What to happen to just taking your dog out for a nice walk once or twice a day or to a park instead. Both of you will benefit.

Prozac that tastes like BEEF? I mean…where do we draw the line with these large pharmaceutical companies?…Come on!!!
