Good news, everyone! Tourism Minister Denise Charles has announced that starting today, American Airlines will offer direct flights to Dominica from Miami three times a month in January. But don’t worry, they’ll be increasing flights to four times a week starting February 4th, 2023.
This new service connects over 40 US cities to Dominica and makes Miami a great hub for travelers coming from Canada, Asia, and Europe. The aircraft has a capacity for 76 passengers, 12 first-class seats, and 64 premium seats with extra legroom.
Minister Charles also mentioned that her ministry had discussions with a delegation from American Airlines in November to talk about concerns about availability and airfare. The airline said that the current demand for flights to Dominica isn’t consistent, so they decided to reduce the number of flights for January. But there’s hope that we’ll see daily flights during the summer, as long as there’s a consistent and sustained demand for the destination.
To make sure we keep the demand consistent, the minister encourages visitors to book their flights early. The airline reviews their schedule and demand for a particular destination every few months, so it’s important to book ahead of time.
Meanwhile, the Discover Dominica Authority is working hard to market the destination and invite more visitors to come and see what Dominica has to offer. And for those of you planning to come to Dominica for Carnival 2023, there are seats available on Caribbean Airlines, InterCaribbean, Silver Airways, and LIAT.
