Personally, it was an exhilarating experience to see how children of Dominica view the world, and how this is reflected in their art work.
The first thing that caught my eye was the unique choice of bright and rich colours in all the art pieces. Retrospectively speaking, this is not really surprising as under the hot sun, there is simply no place for shades of grey. If one looks at the sea, he sees a mirror of brilliant blues; if he gazes at the mountains, he witnesses a lush green carpet.
Even with the portraits, the young artists found it impossible to conceal this innate sense of colour.
Next I noticed how children skillfully caught the characteristic curves of the lines of the mountains, the coastlines, the bowed trunks of palm trees, and the brooding silhouettes of a man.
Dominican nature lives in the hearts of young artists and gives an inexhaustible theme for creativity and inspiration.
The exhibition bore varied works. In addition to drawings on paper, there were paper crafts, clay sculptures and other artistic applications.
It was super art work! The art teacher, Mr. Fingal, did a phenomenal job. Along with the team of teachers and parents, he hosted an unforgettable art show. I am ecstatic that the children are so passionate about creativity. A person engaged in the arts will not go out in search of dubious interests.
