Sir John Compton’s United Workers Party has won Monday’s general elections in St. Lucia.
UWP party claimed 11 of the seats in the house of Assembly.Prime Minister Dr.Kenny Anthony won the other six seats, failing in its bid for a third straight term. Compton, who’s age was an issue during the election campaign has pledged to work hard and honestly to rebuild the country.Particular in the issue of crimes which is on an steady increase in St Lucia, would be one of his priorities.
Compton said he was always confident of victory, despite some pre-election polls that favoured Anthony.
