When we went to renew our Dominican passports at our local consulate in Ottawa, Canada (Consulate for Eastern Caribbean Islands), we were told that we have to apply directly to the Government of Dominica for the new machine readable passport. Do you have any current contact information for the government department in Dominica that could help us?
Kind regards,Need-to-renew-in-Ottawa!
Good Questions Guys.Here’s whats up…
As of June 2007 the old passport will be no longer usable. So yes, Everyone have to apply for the new machine readable Passport. My passport was also valid till 2010, but I still had to apply for the new machine readable Passport. The application forms are free at the Immigration office (Tel#1-(767) 448-2222) in Dominica. I’m not certian whether or not you can obtian the passport form from other Dominican Embassy Consulate and offices:
Dominica Embassy In Washington D.C. – 3216 New Mexico Ave, NW Washington, DC 20016. Telephone:(202) 364 -6781/82 Fax: (202) 364-6791 Email: [email protected].
Dominica Consulate General in New York – 820 2nd Avenue, Suite 900, New York, NY 10017 Telephone: (212) 599-8478 Fax:(212) 808-4975.
There is also an Application fee of $100.00ecd, which is paid at the government Treasury Office and two Passport Size photos which accompanies the passport form before submitting to the Immigration Office.
If anyone has a question that I haven’t touched on in my blog entries, please feel free to send it to me via my email: [email protected]; I’ll do my best to answer it for you.
To whom it may concern, my passport suppose to expire later in the year, can you tell me the document i need to send to you to renew it. Thanks
