The Roseau infant school which will accommodate the Roseau Health center is being renovated as the Ministry of Health seeks to curb the long standing issue at the Accident and Emergency Department of the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH), where persons are known to take advantage of that department when there illnesses are not that crucial.
Waitukubuli National Trail Enters Implementation Phase
The Waitukubuli National Trail project entered the implementation phase with the commencement of a series of training programmes in Trail Construction and Maintenance, and Vegetation Management. According to a news release, one of these training sessions is currently ongoing in the vicinity of the Emerald pool Eco-tourist Site. The training commenced Tuesday 12th, and will run through to Saturday February 16th 2008.The Waitukubuli National Trail will be constructed in fourteen discontinued segments through the entire island in a north to south direction. The Trail Project is being implemented by the government of Dominica with funding from the European Union.
New Grammar School Starts Phase 2
With it’s grant-funded by the People’s Republic of China to the tune of a whopping EC$18 million. The new Grammar school building is moving ahead and into its second phase.
Energy Unit Established
Energy Minister Charles Savarin spoke about the new Energy Unit which has been established to take Dominica’s alternative energy policy forward along with the Petrocaribe project in Dominica.
Chris Lloyd Breaks 400m Indoor National Record
After winning the 400 meters title and the only Caribbean winner at the Athina 2008 IAAF Indoor Permit Meeting in Athens. Dominican Chris Lloyd placed second in the fastest 400m race this year in Birmingham, England (February 16, 2008). With this result (46.02) he achieved a new Personal Best, which is an Indoor National Record. Chris is now number 2 in the world in the latest indoors top list.
