Humans weren’t meant for just seating in one place for too long, they were meant for adventure. You know who you are, (yes you) sitting there in your cubicle with one eye on the “to do” pile and the other on travelocity.com. The desk is plastered with brochures from exotic locations and your computer wallpaper is a photo of your favorite beach.

When a co-worker returns from vacation, you’re the first to start the Q&A session. Sound familiar? You may be suffering from Travel Separation Anxiety. 😀

It doesn’t matter were you’re in the world, being chained to a desk is tough when you want to trade the suit for a suitcase. It seems everyone is out traversing the globe while you pine away in the office.

You’re maybe saying to yourself “I can’t afford to go a vacation now” that’s maybe the same thing you said two years ago. Whether it’s financial or personal commitments that keep you grounded, your inner adventurer doesn’t have to become a casualty of the office cube. Keep the dream alive by planning your ME TIME or E.S.C.A.P.E.

National Geographic Traveler rates Dominica one of top island destinations and with a joint first in the Caribbean together with the Grenadines. A panel of 522 experts in sustainable tourism and destination stewardship donated time to review conditions in these 111 selected islands and archipelagos. The scores that follow reflect the experts’ opinions. Quoted phrases from their remarks suggest the thinking behind the scores. Below are some comments made by members on panel about Dominica:

“Beautiful country. Still largely forested, amazing biodiversity, great bird watching and scuba diving. Because Dominica doesn’t possess the traditional beaches of the Caribbean, it is often overlooked.”

“The Nature Isle is aptly named—awesome power and incredible beauty of nature unspoiled. Its lush mountains, indigenous population, art, craft, agro-based products, and small-scale accommodation facilities all add to the opportunity for sustainable tourism development.”

“The island has not changed much since Columbus first spied it. While cruise ship tourism has remained low, it threatens to overrun specific sites.”

“A serious dichotomy between lip service to preserving and protecting its wilderness, which is the major product, and the soliciting of more cruise ships, the proposed oil refinery, and support for Japan on the whaling issue.”

This just go to show that being under developed is not totally a bad thing. 😎 If you read the comments made by the sustainable tourism and destination experts, you will observe that Dominica is greatly credited for its unspoiled nature. It’s my opinion…that Dominica in the next few years will become one off the most sought after nature destinations in the Caribbean, right in line with the global trend for Eco-tourisms.
