Studies shows that doing something out of your regular day to day activities – a new project, a more challenging job – triggers happy-making chemicals in your brain. Penelope Trunk, a career adviser says you can apply this helpful info at the office but:

What about at home? You watch TV, surf from your sofa, cook dinner but don’t venture past pasta. Instead, use the same standards at home that you have at work: If you are not challenging yourself and learning to do new things at home, Burns’ research suggests that satisfaction with your life will be elusive.

No doubt a lot of us (myself included) plop down on the couch after work to watch primetime TV or if you’re a gamer (which is very common in the Caribbean these days), maybe play a little halo. After a while these regular day to day activities can get to be a drag. Variety is the spice of life. How do you spice up you life outside the office ❓ Post a comment and let us know.

Don’t get too comfortable at home after work [Brazen Careerist]

🙂 Make music. Sing, dance, or learn an instrument (with me, it’s the harmonica). Swim, snorkel, walk, observe nature (rivers & waterfalls, the flowers and the birds & fish of the beautiful Nature Island). Do nice things for the community. 💡 Most of all, show your spouse that you love him or her as your very best friend by doing enjoyable things together.
