New Decision Therapy

This post was written by Dr. Janet Taylor in the Monday February 25th, 2008 issue of the Dominican Sun Newspaper.

“Unique”–being the only one of its kind; not like anything else of its kind; incomparable. These are the description I hear on a daily basis from the people who are guest at Rainforest Shangri-la Resort. They are folks from all over the world and when they say these words they are usually speaking about Dominica as a whole. Many of them have come to this nature island to remove themselves from the fast pace of traffic, corporate pressures, city pollution and scars of the landscape made by industrial plants and oil refineries. They are seeking a way to “defy the everyday” by putting themselves in nature’s healing beauty and rising to the challenge of its untouched raw landscape.

Their intentions are focused on experiencing a call from their deepest core, a reminder of who we really are in the grand scheme of life. Many are well traveled and yet are awed by the gifts of Dominica has to offer their soul…

And they return to their regular lives and spread the word for other to come. The wave is building. Dominica being given – a rare moment to decide whether to become “the same” as other Caribbean island or be courageous enough to cherish and nurture it’s UNIQUE place in the new global awakening.

Do we preserve what we have with the power we wield? Or do we cave in to the glitz and glamour of tantalizing uniformly for the promise of money? Truly a tough decision for those is power. Yet the elected officials are supposedly the voice to the people. Have voiced your informed opinion? If not than you have no right to complain or blame anyone or any situation because you didn’t contribute your voice.

If you’re fearful of doing so then I have one suggestion- education. Seek out the information to make an informed choice for you voice. In this case you life and Dominica’s future depends on it. Time is short.
