2009 has already begun and you probably have your own ideas of some of the goals that you want to achieve during the New Year. Noticed I don’t say resolutions; personally I’m not big on resolutions. Every year around this time many Dominicans plan to make changes in the life, but after a month or two they’re back doing the same things.
There is nothing wrong with your list of resolutions, but you probably want to add a few things that will make the rest of your life better, and this time make it a goal – even if it’s the smallest goal. Chances are you’ll accomplish that goal.
Here are 3 things that you should consider adding that will benefit yourself:
Get rid of your loser friends – If is one problem we’ve in our Dominican society is kids keeping the wrong company.
Hanging around with people that bring you won’t do much for you, so might as well stop hanging around with them. Some of the qualities that these people usually have are: no motivation to make money, laziness, drug addictions and always having a negative attitude.
Stop judging people – its’ human nature for us to judge people by their looks, smell and even behavior. I even judge people, but we all need to stop. It doesn’t do any good to judge people, so why should we keep on doing it.
Love money and drive to earn more of it – I understand that you might think that money is not all in life, but in this hard economy times you need it to survive. With money you can give your kids the education they deserve and the experiences in life that you never had. You don’t have to be rich, but make sure you make enough money to live a comfortable life.
And last by not least, one more thing you should consider adding to your list that will benefit other people:
Support a Local cause – there are a lot of things out there that you can support, so stop wasting time and support one. For example I support the Dominica infirmary and whenever I can, I donate money to it. Even if you don’t have much money to donate to a cause, you can still donate your time.
Anyone have any other suggestions? Lets hear ‘em in the comments
i strongly agree with your comments Chris. We are often afraid to take the leap into the darkness because we are afraid of loosing. but it’s up to us to put light into the dark part of our lives. What is it worth, wondering what if i had tried/done this or that? We see people invest into ideas that we often have in mind and succeed and yet still we are afraid of trying our unique business ideas. the fact is that you have only failed when u stop trying and when u don’t try at all. so my fellow dominicans stop wondering and start doing. If things go wrong the first time it means that u have learnt to do it right the second time. i also recomend the formation of groups, simply because many hands do light work and a united people stand firmly. Off course, in business one must seek professional legal and business advise and also understand that there will always be differences, but the most important factor is conflict resoluton………. i could go on and on. but i’ll stop here.
god bless our nation and it’s people
